Howard Fishman

Critically-acclaimed singer, guitarist, composer and bandleader Howard Fishman’s exuberant, spontaneous, and unvarnished music has made him a favorite of audiences and critics alike. Fishman filters a deep passion for New Orleans jazz, Brooklyn soul, open-hearted country, blues and gospel music through a completely original, experimental aesthetic, to create a sound entirely his own. The New York Times has written that his music “transcends time and idiom.”

Fishman began his musical career on the streets of New Orleans and in the subways of Brooklyn New York in the late 90’s. Since then, he has headlined in some of the most prestigious venues in the US and abroad, released eleven albums on his own Monkey Farm label, been a featured guest on NPR programs like FRESH AIR, SOUNDCHECK, WORD OF MOUTH and WORLD CAFE, been commissioned to writes scores for plays and film, served as Artist in Residence at colleges and high schools, written for The Huffington Post, and maintained a full-time touring schedule with a variety of different projects. Fishman has quietly carved a niche as one of the most diverse and multifaceted composer/performers working today.
